In the classroom I go by Mr. Johnson, I am a Concert/Orchestral Percussionist but I also play Drumset and Upright Bass as a secondary.

I recently Graduated with an undergrad in Instrumental Music Education (December 2020) and I did my entire Student teaching in an Online setting. Now I teach Hybrid K-8th music education at 2 different schools. If that doesn’t give me enough credibility, once you hear my music you will see I have Incredible taste.

I want to use this as a Virtual Music Education mostly based on my knowledge of music and how it relates to History, different cultures, our own lives, and whatever I see beneficial. The class includes my own Aesthetic ideas, Music Philosophy, as well as other people sharing and discussing quality music. This will include different songs from Spotify, Videos from Youtube, Video Games, or Tv shows I come across or somebody could share with me.

One game I play is trying to relate whatever we are listening to a musical concept. If it is truly a good song there is a musical concept at work somewhere. I might also include things I could not get to in my class or could not fit into a lesson.

My dream would be this community could serve as an alternative to social media particularly for kids middle-highschool, but also for older adults who know the pitfalls of social media. This space would be about sharing music, and actively working through the process of understanding the Wisdom in music.
